Used these for the first time yesterday on a partridge day. Very pleased with the results in a lightweight gun. Killed cleanly and with no noticeable recoil which has been a problem with steel, though not in a heavier gun. If they continue to perform as they are I will probably give 5 stars. I suspect these will become my favoured cartridge for now, for normal pheasant/partridge days.
Shot the 27g 4’s on a high bird day in N Wales alongside my usual Black gold 36g 4’s. Didn’t notice any difference which was amazing.
I have been using these (27g 5’s) for driven pheasants this year, they have worked wonderfully in my `Beretta Silver Pigeon. I have killed high birds cleanly and when I did a pattern test vs the lead 6’s I used to use they were a better spread.
Used the 27g 4s on ducks this January. Killed them cleanly (unlike some of the steel I have witnessed) but I did find that they were very punchy through my AYA Yeoman side by side. I guess we are going to have to use these if the birds are going into the retail food chain but I am going to buy enough lead shot to see me out on the shoots I go on, all of which distribute the birds to the guns and beaters.
